The rest of the course consists of teacher-created written, grammar and speaking assignments, quizzes, as well as, monthly virtual classes with the class to practice speaking skills.

This French course for grades 5-8 will be using the exciting AIM program developed by Wendy Maxwell. Students are expected to actively participate in a variety of individual, small group, and whole class activities including subject-related worksheets. Using AIM will create an environment where the students will: feel comfortable to express themselves in the target language from the first lesson; learn vocabulary through visual, auditory and kinesthetic tools; participate in all activities in the target language based on literature and drama; learn to think and write creatively, while practicing oral communication; and be part of a “learning community” that emphasizes cooperative learning.

This class has a capacity of 15 students and will be hosted in Surrey.

In this course, students will have fun learning some basics of the French language while traveling like a tourist. They will learn how to introduce themselves and their family, travel, eat in a restaurant, shop and report on the weather. The course consists of teacher created assignments and monthly virtual classes. It is recommended that the student set aside two thirty-minute segments per week to achieve success in the course.

This course is designed for students with little or no background in French or for those who want to brush up on their grade 8 & 9 French. It is a prerequisite to Introductory French 11B or French 10. This course is a follow up to Introductory French 11A and covers concepts learned in French 10 & 11. It is an intense course as students will cover both levels 3 & 4 in the Rosetta Stone program. Students spend about 60% of their time in Rosetta Stone: learning vocabulary, seeing language in context and reading stories. The rest of the course consists of teacher-created written, grammar and speaking assignments, quizzes, as well as, monthly virtual classes with the class to practice speaking skills.
