Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to explore and derive meaning from a variety of texts, recognize connections between language and culture, and develop a beginning understanding of French vocabulary and sentence structures.

Spanish 5 is an introductory course for beginning language learners to explore the basics of Spanish while enjoying thematic units written to help students learn how to describe themselves, others, and their surroundings using the Spanish language. The course is broken down into three units each spanning 10 weeks and covering the themes of Spanish language basics, likes and dislikes, and exploring who they are as learners. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to explore and derive meaning from a variety of texts, recognize connections between language and culture, and develop a beginning understanding of Spanish vocabulary and sentence structures. Students will enjoy engaging and interactive learning activities as they develop confidence in their knowledge of spoken Spanish and Hispanic culture.

Each unit has ongoing assessment for language development, such as interactive activities, practice questions, and reflective prompts.

For each of the three units, students will submit two learning activities plus present a final unit project during a live teacher meeting.

Spanish 6 helps students begin to recognize the relationships between Spanish letter patterns and pronunciation as they learn through thematic units built around Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and communication strategies. The course is broken down into three units each spanning 10 weeks and covering the themes of school, food, and feelings and emotions. Throughout the course, students will enjoy engaging and interactive learning activities as they explore how the Spanish language and stories help us to acquire language and understand the world around us. Students will have the opportunity to develop creativity and express themselves using the Spanish language through the three unit projects: Esta es mi escuela (This is my school), Soy un chef (I am a chef), and Historia de un acontecimiento (The story of an event).
