The course is broken down into three big themes each spanning 10 weeks and covering French language basics, from Career planning to reflecting on the past and growing up and finally, the last unit has three different short stories to read and analyze. 

Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to explore and derive meaning from a variety of texts, recognize connections between language and future planning as well as reflecting on past events, while developing French vocabulary and story structures.  

In this course, students will learn concepts and vocabulary related to tourism and recreation, professions and hobbies, at home, around town, style and personal wellness.  The course is divided into six themes, two per term. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of French texts, videos, music and audios.  As well as a variety of grammar and speaking assignments, quizzes, as well as, monthly virtual classes to practice speaking skills.

In this course, students will have fun learning some basics of the French language while traveling like a tourist. They will learn how to introduce themselves and their family, travel, eat in a restaurant, shop and report on the weather. The course consists of teacher created assignments and monthly virtual classes. It is recommended that the student set aside two thirty-minute segments per week to achieve success in the course.

In this course, students will learn language basics, greetings and introductions and concepts related to work, school and shopping. Students spend about 50% of their time in Rosetta Stone: learning vocabulary, seeing language in context, reading and recording stories. The rest of the course consists of teacher-created written, grammar and speaking assignments along with monthly virtual classes with the class to practice speaking skills.
It is recommended that the parent help the student create a realistic weekly schedule that allows for the timely completion of the course. Thirty minute segments 4 times per week would be ideal.

Students spend about 50% of their time in Rosetta Stone: learning vocabulary, seeing language in context and reading stories. The rest of the course consists of teacher-created written, grammar and speaking assignments, and quizzes, as well as, monthly virtual classes with the class to practice speaking skills.
It is recommended that the parent help the student create a realistic weekly schedule that allows for the timely completion of the course. Thirty minute segments 4 – 5 times per week would be ideal.

In this course, students will learn many concepts and vocabulary. It is geared towards students with no knowledge of French. It is a condensed course including material from grades 8, 9 and 10 to make up for. We will explore pronunciations, and themes like shopping, francophone celebrations, homes, school and learning, personality traits, likes and dislikes, careers, jobs, and memories of growing up and childhood. We will dive into a variety of grammar concepts like conjugation, verbs, adjectives and more. The course is divided into six themes, two per term. At the end of each unit, students have to work on a unit related project then present it to the teacher during a live meeting presentation.

The class meets online once a month to practice speaking French together.

Spanish 5 is an introductory course for beginning language learners to explore the basics of Spanish while enjoying thematic units written to help students learn how to describe themselves, others, and their surroundings using the Spanish language. The course is broken down into three units each spanning 10 weeks and covering the themes of Spanish language basics, likes and dislikes, and exploring who they are as learners. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to explore and derive meaning from a variety of texts, recognize connections between language and culture, and develop a beginning understanding of Spanish vocabulary and sentence structures. Students will enjoy engaging and interactive learning activities as they develop confidence in their knowledge of spoken Spanish and Hispanic culture.

Spanish 6 helps students begin to recognize the relationships between Spanish letter patterns and pronunciation as they learn through thematic units built around Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and communication strategies. The course is broken down into three units each spanning 10 weeks and covering the themes of school, food, and feelings and emotions. Throughout the course, students will enjoy engaging and interactive learning activities as they explore how the Spanish language and stories help us to acquire language and understand the world around us. Students will have the opportunity to develop creativity and express themselves using the Spanish language through the three unit projects: Esta es mi escuela (This is my school), Soy un chef (I am a chef), and Historia de un acontecimiento (The story of an event).

Spanish 7 is designed to help students build connections between their lives and the Spanish language. Students will explore their interests and interact with the Hispanic world. The course is divided into an Introduction and three units, with each unit designed to take about 10 weeks. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to use intonation and tone effectively to communicate meaning, follow instructions to complete a task, and exchange ideas and information using complete sentences, both orally and in writing.

Spanish 8 is designed to help students develop an understanding of how
culture is influenced by the languages we speak and the communities with
which we engage. The course is broken down into three units each
spanning 10 weeks and covering the themes shopping, home, and a novel
study about a rare albino bat named Juliana who lives with her brother in a
secret cave in Spain. The book is an easy Spanish reader containing 130
vocabulary words and English-Spanish cognates (words that look similar
in English and Spanish). While reading a book in Spanish may seem
intimidating at first, this is a fantastic way to introduce students to
comprehending key information and supporting details in simple and clear
text as they develop their confidence in reading and understanding the
Spanish language. Throughout the course, students will have the
opportunity to exchange ideas and information using complete sentences
both orally and in writing, comprehend and retell stories in Spanish, and
explore ways in which Hispanic cultures are expressed through creative
works. Students will enjoy engaging and interactive learning activities as
they learn how to express themselves and talk about the world around
them in Spanish.
