By passing the written and practical exams you will receive a hunting number which allows you to hunt in B.C. This number is permanent which does not need to be renewed, even if you decide not to hunt. This is for ages 10 years old and up. Average courses across BC range from $175.00-$275.00 per person.
What you need to do to prepare for the testing.
- Get access to a core manual and read/review/know chapter questions; I will have core manuals available for $22.00 if you are not able to attain the manual beforehand. Get access to the hunting synopsis (free) from a hunting store such as Cabela’s (I will have copies on hand).
- Familiarize yourself with any firearms available to you; know the types and parts of a firearm, ammunition and the safety procedures for handling a firearm (there will be opportunity to hold, handle and understand firearm types and the safety measures and ammunition during the course).
- There are free firearm tests and quizzes online from various Provinces and States that you can access for practice.
If you are successful in passing the exams, be prepared to send a $30.00 fee to the BC Wildlife service for processing. You will receive a certificate in the mail within 3-6 weeks.
