Come and learn about the traditions and symbolism hidden within Ukrainian Easter eggs, and create one of your own! This is a one-time hands-on class for intermediate students in Gr. 6-9.
A portion of the class fee is for a “pysanka kit” that students will take home. The kit will include everything needed to create more eggs on their own:
- A medium “kystka” (writing tool)
- black beeswax
- cleaning wire
- four glass jars containing the basic beginner dye colors (yellow, orange, red, black)
- instructions for a beginner pattern which will be completed in class
- a page of additional designs to try at home
Note: Students will be working with beeswax which gets melted in a kystka (writing tool) over an open candle flame. Safety practice will be outlined and students are expected to follow the given guidelines.
