The Project fair will be held from 10:00 am until noon on Friday, March 15th at TLA’s Hawthorne location in Cloverdale. Student who participate will be given a table on which to display their project, and a chance to present their work to those attending.
  • Here is a link to a PDF table with grade level social studies content. You do not have to choose a topic that lines up with your child’s grade level, but it would make sense to do so.
  • Also, here is  a link to a folder full of ideas broken down by grade level.  These are taken directly from the BC curriculum website.
  • This document gives guidelines that are used for Heritage Fairs across Canada, but project for the TLA fair are NOT restricted to Canadian content only.  The Heritage Fair guidelines are meant to be used as a rough guideline (I really don’t care what size your board is, and please don’t present in French, as I won’t have an easy time giving students any feedback!)
  • Students are encouraged to include maps, reports, images, and a model of some sort in their display, although there are no strict requirements. This is simply intended as a fun way for students to share their learning with others, and to have a chance to present what they learn, if they are comfortable doing so. 🙂
  • Any topics related to general world geography and history are most welcome! Projects linked to the student in a personal way, such as learning about the history, or ancestry of their own family, or a country they wish to visit, are possible ideas to build upon.
  • You are welcome to invite grandparents, or friends and family to view the projects!
