For 9 weeks, parent and TLA teacher, Sarah Stolz, will facilitate 9 different pre-recorded engineering workshops created by McMaster University’s Venture Academy. Each week is aimed at a different age group, however, if you would like to sign up multiple kids of different age groups in your family to work together, you are welcome to do so. The activities will be aimed at the grade level listed but any age is welcome to check it out. Read more details about each topic by clicking on the links below. April 12 : Civil Engineering & Problem Solving : Engineering and the Natural World // Kindergarten – Grade 1 – make a teeter totter
April 19 : Environmental Engineering : Energy in Our Lives // Grade 1-2 – make a windmill
April 26 : Mechanical Engineering : Understanding Movement // Grades 2-3 – make an interactive pulley
May 3 : Civil Engineering : Strong and Stable Structures // Grades 3-4 – build a bridge
May 10 : Engineering Physics : Understanding Matter and Sound Energy // Grades 4-5 – make a harmonica
May 17 : BioMedical Engineering : Understanding Life Systems // Grades 5-6 – make a model of a prosthetic hand
May 31 : Aerospace Engineering : Understanding Flight // Grade 6-7 – make a homemade jet
June 7 : Chemical Engineering : Pure Substances and Mixtures // Grades 7-8 – complete a chemistry experiment
June 14 : Mechanical Engineering : Systems in Action // Grades 8-9 – create a Rube Goldberg machine
