Welcome to our Plaster Mask Making workshop! Over two hands-on sessions, students will craft and decorate a custom, wearable 3D plaster mask from start to finish.

Session 1: Sculpting & Shell Design Students will construct and shape the structural plaster shell of their mask. Using plaster wraps over mold bases, they will lay down the foundation, add unique structural details (like horns, exaggerated brows, or animal snouts), and smooth out the surface. The completed shells will then spend the week drying and curing completely.

Session 2: Painting & Embellishments Once the plaster is fully set, students will bring their creations to life with vibrant color and detail. Using acrylic paints, brushes, glitters, and decorative accents, they can transform their mask into an animal, a superhero, an abstract galaxy, or anything else they imagine!

What Students Should Bring & Know

  • Dress for a Mess: Plaster and acrylic paint can be messy! Please wear old clothes or bring an apron/smock.
  • Creativity & Ideas: Think about what theme or character you want to build before the first class so you can jump right into sculpting.
