Facilitated online by Ms. Michelle Smid, once a week for four weeks. *Must be comfortable using a stove top and oven*

In this hands-on, taste-tested culinary adventure, students will build practical cooking skills while learning the essentials of healthy living. Designed for middle schoolers, this class blends food literacy with kitchen creativity—and always ends with something delicious.

Through weekly lessons, we’ll explore:

  • 🧠 Nutrition Basics – Understanding food groups, balanced meals, and how to read labels
  • 🍽️ The Canadian Food Guide – Making smart choices that fuel growing minds and bodies
  • 🛒 Meal Planning & Grocery Savvy – How to create a meal plan, make a shopping list, and stretch a budget
  • 🍲 Team Cooking & Sharing – Preparing simple, nutritious recipes together and enjoying them as a group

Each student will learn a new recipe every week to build their own personal cookbook and inspire family meals at home. With a focus on building knowledge and confidence in the kitchen, students will learn that cooking isn’t just a life skill—it’s a form of expression.
