Taught online by Megan McKenzie // Wednesdays (Jan 13, 20, 27, Feb 3, Feb 17, Feb 24 ) (6 weeks) “Audiences are harder to please if you’re just giving them effects, but they’re easy to please if it’s a good story.” – Steven Spielberg

A good screenplay is the heart of any film. A great director cannot save a mediocre screenplay, which is why it’s imperative to ensure success at the box office with a strong, foundational framework. In this class, students will explore the art of writing for the screen, including the techniques of story structure, dialogue, character, conflict and formatting, as well as the fine balance of giving and accepting constructive critique.
