Each week students will learn about two or three different explorers and create timelines, maps, and exploration tools. Over the course of 6 weeks, we will also include some baking, drawing, and drama to further develop our knowledge of exploration, the fur trade, and the gold rush. Students will read about and discuss the effects of Europeans on the First People groups of Canada. A field trip to Fort Langley will be included on one of the Thursdays and there may be a possible field trip to the Surrey Museum as well. Some small homework tasks may be assigned to prepare for the next class.
