During this six-week community class students will embark on an in-depth study of The Maze Runner by James Dasher, a popular dystopian novel series that was made into a successful movie franchise in 2014.  Through both large and small group-activities, students will work together to understand the elements of a story, and the role character plays in a successful series. Please note, students should be prepared to read 10-12 chapters per week.

This book centers on Thomas, a 16-year old boy with no memory of life before he wakes in the Maze. This story follows the friends he makes in the Glade, and their struggles to survive a series of dangerous tests to overthrow the corporation running them.

This class will better prepare students for their participation in literary circles, an activity used frequently in upper-level English classes. Books available through the TLA library.
