SUMMARY:Talking Trees + Tea Making with Talaysay Tours
DESCRIPTION:This field trip is a unique opportunity to experience the wonder of traditional ecological knowledge\, interpreted in the stunning forest of North Vancouver.\n\nTalaysay Tours is recognized as one of the leading Indigenous tour groups in BC\, and their tours offer deep insights into history\, culture\, geography and biology. On this nature walking tour we will hear the stories of how shíshálh (Sechelt) Coast Salish & Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) People have been using the land for food\, medicine and technology for thousands of years.\n\nAdditionally\, our tour will finish with a a traditional tea-making workshop.\n\nTo ensure that students get the most out of this experience\, we will be capping this field trip at 10 participants\, so space is very limited. We are asking that all students be in grade 6-12\, and be prepared to show the utmost respect for our guide and for the land.\n\nBased on demand\, we may offer the same field trip in June and/or September\, so if you are interested in getting more information about these upcoming field trips there is a box you can check below.\n\n\nPlease bring:\n-Comfortable walking shoes\n-A water bottle and a snack\n-A journal and a pencil to take notes\n\nPlease note that this field trip will primarily be focused on traditional ecological knowledge\, but it may also explain some of the cultural and spiritual practices of the Squamish people. This can be a starting point for further discussions about these ideas at home.\n\nExpect fresh air and a sense of wonder! \n\nSign-up deadline: September 15th\, 2025

SUMMARY:Kangaroo Creek Farm
DESCRIPTION:All Homeschooling friends are welcome! \nKick off the 2025/2026 school year with a field trip to mingle with some furry friends- and some fellow homeschooling critters! \n\nTLA Field Trip coordinator\, Pam Smid\, will be at the farm from 10:30am-1:00pm; however\, families are welcome to arrive and depart at any time. \n\nFor ease of admission coordination\, families can pay at the gate. The entrance fees are as follows:\n\nLow Season Rates (March thru June and September thru Thanksgiving weekend): \n\nAdults and Youth (16 years to 64): $20\nChildren (5 yrs to 15 years): $10\nSeniors (65 yrs plus): $10\nChildren 4 yrs and younger: FREE\n\nNote: You may wish to consider the following note from The Kangaroo Farm:\n\n \n\nWe recommend buying one or more punch cards when they become available for sale after Labor Day.  This will save you $5 on adult admission and $2.50 on a child/senior admission.  If you are interested in that I can go into more detail about how they work.  They are $150 each and have 10 punches.  They don’t expire and can be used any time we are open.\n \nIn low season\, when the kids are back in school\, each punch is good for one adult or a two-for-one child/child\, or child/senior\, or senior/senior combination.\n \n\nFor more information about the farm\, please visit their website:\n\nKanagroo Creek Farm
