SUMMARY:Social Studies Project Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Project fair will be held from 10:00 am until noon on Thursday\, March 13th at TLA’s Hawthorne location in Cloverdale. Students who participate will be given a table on which to display their project\, and a chance to present their work to those attending.\n\n\n\nAny topics related to general world geography and history are most welcome! Projects linked to the student in a personal way\, such as learning about the history\, or ancestry of their own family\, or a country they wish to visit\, are possible ideas to build upon.\nYou are welcome to invite grandparents\, or friends and family to view the projects!\nHere is a link to a PDF table with grade level social studies content. You do not have to choose a topic that lines up with your child’s grade level\, but it would make sense to do so.\nAlso\, here is  a link to a folder full of ideas broken down by grade level.  These are taken directly from the BC curriculum website.\nPlease review the Project Guidelines here.\nStudents are encouraged to include maps\, reports\, images\, and a model of some sort in their display\, although there are no strict requirements. This is simply intended as a fun way for students to share their learning with others\, and to have a chance to present what they learn\, if they are comfortable doing so. 🙂\nIf you have any questions\, please contact Mrs. Maureen Krump at: mkrump@schoolathome.ca

SUMMARY:Forces in Motion: Exploring Newton's Laws
DESCRIPTION:Field trip information:\n\nI am excited to have you join this interactive virtual workshop\, hosted by Simon Fraser University. We will be exploring Newton’s Three Laws of Motion—the key principles that explain how objects move and interact with forces. \nThrough exciting demonstrations\, we’ll investigate questions like: \n\nWhy do objects keep moving unless something stops them?\nHow do forces change an object’s speed or direction?\nWhat happens when forces push against each other?\n\nBy the end of this session\, you’ll have a better understanding of how forces shape the motion of everything around us. Get ready to think\, predict\, and explore! \nFRIDAY\, April 25\, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:30am. \nGrades 5-7 \n\nMeeting Online.  Zoom link will be emailed prior to the event.\nCost: $5 per student\nContact Person/Information: Joyce Froese\,  jfroese@schoolathome.ca\, 1-800-745-1320 ext 365Sign-up deadline: Friday\, April 18\, 2025
