SUMMARY:Prince George Observatory Tour
DESCRIPTION:The Prince George Observatory is located at 7365 Tedford Road in Prince George\, close to West Lake. \nWe have booked Monday March 6 for our visit.  There is a maximum number of 45 people (parents and children combined).  Cost is $2.50 per person.  Our visit starts at 7pm\, but we’ve been asked to arrive closer to 6:30pm.  The visit is between 1.5 and 2 hrs.\n\nOther details – there is an activity table.  If the skies are cloudy\, there are still learning activities to complete\, but there won’t be much to see through the telescope.  Clear skies will mean both the large telescope and additional smaller telescopes will be set up for viewing.  If our group is large\, we will divide into 2 groups\, with students 10 and up in one group\, and younger than 10 in the other.\n\nFinal notes:  The observatory is cold.  Come dressed to be outside\, and appropriate for the weather.  Encourage your kids to prepare any questions\, if they are curious about anything related to space.

SUMMARY:Vancouver Art Gallery Workshop and Tour
DESCRIPTION:WEDNESDAY\, January 18 from 10:30 am -12:30 pm \nGrade 2-12 TLA families are invited to participate (non-TLA students are welcome\, too) \n10:20am arrive and gather in front of museum\n10:30am-12:30pm\n\n\nROBERT DAVIDSON: A LINE THAT BENDS BUT DOES NOT BREAK \n\nThis exhibition celebrates one of Canada’s and the Haida nation’s national treasures\, Guud sans glans Robert Davidson. Since the 1960s\, he has been instrumental in the revival of Haida art and culture and is unquestionably one of that tradition’s most respected living artist. \nThis interactive tour will explore how Davidson’s deep knowledge of Haida design has allowed him to innovate from within that tradition\, often drawing out and abstracting elements of shape\, colour and line so that we can consider them closely and see them in new ways. By viewing Davidson’s prints\, drawings and paintings\, students will build visual literacy skills to begin to understand the conventions of the work\, the histories and values that inform it\, and the innovations it advances. \nStudents and parents will be able to explore the rest of the gallery after the workshop. \n\nWhere: 750 Hornby Street\, Vancouver\, BC\nCost: $8 per student (accompanying adult cost TBD)\nContact Person/Information: Gabe Linder\,  glinder@schoolathome.ca \nSign-up deadline: Wednesday\, January 11 (or full at 30 students)
