DESCRIPTION:Fascinated by the starry night sky? Amazed by the shapes of the moon? Learn about constellations and the moon in this space-cial workshop! Through creating constellation viewers and moon Martians\, students learn to recognize famous constellations\, understand moon phases\, and identify the conditions on the moon.  We will also talk about stars\, other celestial objects\, and have a tour of the SFU observatory!\n\nFRIDAY\, May 23\, 2025 from 10am to noon \nRecommended for Grades 5 – 7 \n\nWhere: Virtual.  Zoom link will be shared.\nCost: $5 per student\nSign-up deadline: Friday\, May 16\, 2025

Yes\, you get to go on the rides! Meeting time 9:00am. \nGrades 8-12 students are invited – Playland has activities designed for Science 8\, Science 9\, Science 10\, Physics 11/12\, Biology 12 and Chemistry 11/12. \nEach student attending pays the same rate of $19.00.\nParent cost to enter\, whether going on rides or not\, is $25.00. \nSorry\, school-based transportation is not available. \nSign-up deadline April 24 at 4:00pm.

SUMMARY:Talking Trees with Talaysay Tours
DESCRIPTION:This field trip is a unique opportunity to experience the wonder of traditional ecological knowledge\, interpreted in the stunning forest of North Vancouver.\n\nTalaysay Tours is recognized as one of the leading Indigenous tour groups in BC\, and their tours offer deep insights into history\, culture\, geography and biology. On this nature walking tour we will hear the stories of how shíshálh (Sechelt) Coast Salish & Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) People have been using the land for food\, medicine and technology for thousands of years.\n\nAdditionally\, our tour will finish with a a traditional tea-making workshop.\n\nTo ensure that students get the most out of this experience\, we will be capping this field trip at 10 participants\, so space is very limited.
