SUMMARY:Britannia Shipyard Boatbuilders School Program Fieldtrip
DESCRIPTION:Field trip information:  \n\n \nThis is a facilitated 90 minute in-person field trip experience at the Britannia Shipyards in Steveston.\n\nIn this program\, students will: \n\n  \n\nexplore the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site to learn about the history of boatbuilding and its importance in Steveston.\nexplore the different steps to build a boat by participating in a tool scavenger hunt\, a caulking demonstration\, and more maritime-themed activities.\nThese steps will then be applied to a boatbuilding activity\, with each student making their own small wooden boat to bring home.\nThe program will be adapted to accommodate children in various age groups and our group may be split into two groups depending on the number who register.\n\n  \n\nWhen: Wednesday\, June 12\, 2024 10:00 am – 11:30 am \nSign-up deadline: Wednesday\, June 5\,  2024 \n\n\nMaximum participants – 60\n\nWhere: Britannia Shipyards\, located at 5180 Westwater Drive to the east of Steveston Village.\n\nCost:\n\n\n$8.00 for all school-age participants\, and all younger siblings who wish to build a boat (they can accommodate children 3 and up with a parent to help.)\nAdult chaperones enjoy the program at no extra charge.\n\n\n\n\n\nAdult Leaders\, Attendants and Chaperones \n\nLeaders\, attendants and chaperones are expected to support participants during program activities.\nChaperones are also responsible for group and individual participant behaviour.\nPlease review TLA’s Field Trip Policy and share the expectations with your children.\nIndividuals not respecting our code of conduct will be asked to leave the group and a parent will be required to remain with them until the time of departure.\n\n\n\nContact Person/Information: Mrs. Maureen Krump\, mkrump@schoolathome.ca\, 1-800-745-1320 ext 354
