SUMMARY:Talking Trees + Tea Making with Talaysay Tours
DESCRIPTION:This field trip is a unique opportunity to experience the wonder of traditional ecological knowledge\, interpreted in the stunning forest of North Vancouver.\n\nTalaysay Tours is recognized as one of the leading Indigenous tour groups in BC\, and their tours offer deep insights into history\, culture\, geography and biology. On this nature walking tour we will hear the stories of how shíshálh (Sechelt) Coast Salish & Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) People have been using the land for food\, medicine and technology for thousands of years.\n\nAdditionally\, our tour will finish with a a traditional tea-making workshop.\n\nTo ensure that students get the most out of this experience\, we will be capping this field trip at 10 participants\, so space is very limited. We are asking that all students be in grade 6-12\, and be prepared to show the utmost respect for our guide and for the land.\n\nBased on demand\, we may offer the same field trip in June and/or September\, so if you are interested in getting more information about these upcoming field trips there is a box you can check below.\n\n\nPlease bring:\n-Comfortable walking shoes\n-A water bottle and a snack\n-A journal and a pencil to take notes\n\nPlease note that this field trip will primarily be focused on traditional ecological knowledge\, but it may also explain some of the cultural and spiritual practices of the Squamish people. This can be a starting point for further discussions about these ideas at home.\n\nExpect fresh air and a sense of wonder! \n\nSign-up deadline: September 15th\, 2025 \n\n\n \n \n \n Share on Facebook\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Tweet\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Follow us\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Share\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Share\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Share\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Share\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Share
