DESCRIPTION:Explore the future of genomics with a tour of Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Science Centre.  Geneskool® and Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre are collaborating to provide a unique opportunity for students to tour an internationally renowned genomics\, proteomics and bioinformatics facility. \nStudents will see how researchers are developing and deploying cutting edge technologies to prevent and diagnose cancer and other diseases. A hands-on Geneskool workshop helps to reinforce the underlying scientific concepts of genomics. \nDNA Sequencers:  Learn about the powerful machines that read and analyze DNA sequences. Discover how they help us understand genomes and contribute to groundbreaking research \nRobots:  Think you can race a robot? See if you can process 400 samples per minute with precision and efficiency. \nData Centre:  Get a behind the scenes look at the windy and chilled data centre. This room houses thousands of computers that store vast amounts of genetic data.
